Wow i've never heard of this, are you sure you aren't doing something wrong?
perhaps you aren't holding the make it ra1n button long enough?
or maybe your phone doesn't have enough charge?
A friend of mine was having similar issues, the only thing that worked for him was to run his phone under precisely 68 degree water, at about 16 psi. I dunno what happened, but it never gave him the restart loop again.
hahaha, no but seriously, you shouldn't be jailbreaking your 3gs, if you have no idea what your doing. If you did any research you would have easily seen that the newer 3gs's are on a new boot rom, and only support a tethered jailbreak.
Now if you are actually having a problem on a 3g or a 2g, please disregard me acting like a jackass. The only thing I ask in return for helping, is that you click the thanks button, Thanks!

If you don't tell which model you have, which firmware you were trying to use, which software you were using to jailbreak it and so on, nobody can help you.

At a rough guess i'd say it's a 3GS with the new iBoot and hence a tethered JB.
