I recently unlocked a 2G iphone with 3.0, using redsnow 0.8, everything fine there, works great, and operating on the Optus network (Aus)
But i've run into something very unusual. My phone rings as normal and you hear the tone as normal, but every other sound to do with the phone (ie lock sound, sms, ipod, email etc) is non exsistent unless i plug in ear phones.
That said, the ipod sounds normal with earphones attached, but all remaining sounds are extremely weak.
I really cant tell if this is hardware or software.
I have reformatted everything twice, using 3.0 with both redsnow 0.7xx and 0.8.
If anyone knows what im facing could they please advise me further, or alternatively, suggest a better firmware version and unlock technique. I wish it was as easy as the 3Gs
Thankyou in advance.
For those interested...
I happened to accidently press the volume up button on the left hand side of the phone when i picked it up and noticed it said
ringer
(Headphones)
So it would seem as i just have a dodgy headphone jack...
am replacing the back with another now....
and it worked... as inspector Gadget would say... "Wowzers!"

I had this problem before check the silent toggle on the side of your phone, sometimes if I use the toggle silent to unsilent I get no sounds so I flick it again and then start the ipod and play some music and it fixes it. Weird.
