Sick of all the crap lockscreens in Cydia???
Is it just me - or is anyone else sick of seeing 20 new Lockscreen backgrounds posted on Cydia everyday??
I mean - I am all for those Lockscreens that have had effort put in, and at least a custom slider or something made for it, but it seems most of them are just a lockscreen background and nothing else??
If it is just a lockscreen background - I dont get why they need to be posted on Cydia. Surely everyone else who has jailbroken phone here has worked out how to use their own pics for custom lockscreen backgrounds - so why are they added to Cydia?
Surely just a thread on this forum - where the backgrounds/lockscreens can be posted is sufficient enough? (e.g. the Theme section - although I know these are posted on Cydia as well).
Dont get me wrong - I am in no way criticising other's work - I am just tired of seeing lockscreen after lockscreen that dont seem to be anything at all.
Now with Cydia so popular & more apps being added daily - it is now becoming a chore to wade through useless lockscreens just to see if anything good has been posted lately.
Considering the lockscreen is about what - 5% of a full theme? - I just wonder what the point is. At least a full theme has some time & effort put into it..
At a quick count - I saw 1500 lockscreens in Cydia, how many of these are really used by the majority of people?
I think a cleaner, more organised approach to Cydia would make it a lot better, and make it easier for new apps/themes/tweaks etc to be seen, noticed & used.
As I couldnt see anywhere else in the forum to post this thought - I chose this general iphone forum.
Maybe I am wrong - but I just wonder what everyone else thinks about this???

I agree, plus there are quite a few themes that are put up that in my opinion shouldn't be. I think there should be a required amount of icons made (ie 200+) for a theme to be placed on cydia. Also wish the themes were better organized instead of being an alphabetical list of almost 3000

OMG I so agree!
I hate haveing to wade though all those friggin lock screens to see what other new programs have been loaded.
Maybe give them their own category or something?
to the OP's point, why do these need loaded to cydia anyway? There is a download section here were they could be added.
Does anyone even really use these?
To me its just a look what I can do, create a custom lockscreen, BFD, thanks noob!!!!

am glad to see I am not the only one who thinks this way, and others feel the same way about it...
I wonder if this is really just because originally there was not much in Cydia - so it was a case of the more things in there the better. However now there is just too much useless stuff in there...
I agree - posting the lockscreens to a DL section seems to make more sense.
As for themes - an icon limit maybe a good idea. Even the theme section of this forum itself has been re-organised - just to make it easier to see the new themes coming out etc.
Perhaps something along these lines would suit for Cydia too?
I am sure Saurik @ Cydia doesnt have time to look at something like this - but maybe all the repo sites could help to streamline things better?

I just saw "Alvin & Chipmunks Squekuel" lockscreen - and almost died when I saw 466 people had downloaded it!!!
For real?? There are people who want that crap? 466 of them? LOL!

1. Click on Sections tab
2. Click on Edit button
3. Disable any sections you don't want to see.
4. ???
5. Profit!
But seriously, it's easy to turn them off so you no longer have to wade through them to find the applications. I do agree that it's slightly ridiculous just how many lockscreens get added, but there's little use complaining about it.

thanks for that - I did forget about turning them off in Cydia.
although most of the time - I dont use iPhone to browse the repos - so that only really fixes half the problem...
And I agree - there was little use in complaining about it - and like I said above - I am sure Saurik @ Cydia has more important things to worry about.
Just wondered if anyone else was as sick of seeing them as I was! haha!
