Sending picture messages with the first get iphone
Okay I did some searching for an app that would allow me to send MMS (which I assume means Multimedia/picture messages) I also did some searching on the forums trying to find the answer and all I found was "please dont post this topic twice" responces.
I need your fell folks!! I have a first gen iPhone on T-mobile network and I want to know if there is a free app out there that will allow me to be able to send/receive picture messages.
I found a thread that someone responded "its a feature for 2g iphones that have downloaded the hack/patch" but then it didnt say how to or where to find the info to do this. I know this is probably a common topic but after sifting through 15 or so threads about it, I come up empty handed.
Im running on 3.1.2 and have Cydia and Rock installed, other than that im kinda a noobie so the more info the better! SwirlyMMS2 I saw but you have to pay for it and I dont know if it works on the first gen. Also id rather not buy something everyone seems to say doesnt work.
Please help and try not to flame me for "posting in the wrong section" or "dont post about the same thing someone else has" comments. Im new to the boards and simple need some help. Much appreciated to anyone who offers to help!
Thanks everyone!!

SiNfuL iPhone Repo is your friend (well, it is works for me). Just add that as a source to Cydia and then go to "Enable MMS for 2G etc 3.1.2".
You'll then have to adjust your settings to suit your particular carrier but I'm sure you can find those.

I've never been able to get it to work on 3.0, 3.1 or 3.1.2. I've tried many times and have just given up. If you follow the thread over on sinfuliphone, you will see tons of others who can't get it to work either.

I am on 3.0 now because at one time, I did get MMS working on 3.0 for just a few minutes. I've never been able to get it working again since then. I think I remember going to another site and installing a profile that finally got it working back then but this time, I get nothing.
I never got it to work on 3.1.2. I have also tried using the sim from my 3GS iPhone just in case it was the sim in the 2G blocking MMS.

Okay. Still not sure which carrier you're on or whereabouts in the world you are etc....
MMS certainly works on my 2G running 3.1.2 with T-Mobile here in the UK. Took me a while to work out how to do it but thanks to this & other sites I finally managed it.

I'm on AT&T.
It suddenly started working!!! I got MMS on my 2G iPhone running 3.0!! YEAH!

I seem to be having a severe battery drain problem now. On WiFi, I can watch as the % drops 1% literally every few seconds. I don't think I'll be keeping this mod.Last edited by funcritter; 01-04-2010 at 06:44 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I ended up restoring my phone back to 3.1.2 because I couldn't handle the horrible battery life with this MMS mod. I tried installing the mod on 3.1.2 and of course after six hours, I could not get it to work and went to sleep. Six hours later, my battery drained to just under 50% while it did nothing. I've removed the mod all together. Battery life is more important.
