I've got a jailbroken iPhone 3gs running 3.1.2. I HAD 3.0.1 (jailbroken) when I bought the phone. I've got a carrier so unlocking wasn't necessary. When I had 3.0.1 new apps started coming out in the app store that I couldn't DL. I got a message saying "you need 3.1.." so I updated to 3.1.2 and jailbroke again using blackra1n. After doing this (and wiping all the cydia apps I had in the process), I got almost everything I had again (it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be). Interestingly, now when I SSH into the device, I have two sets of "everything." What I mean is that in my stash folder I've got two folders called "applications," two called, "ringtones," two called, "themes," (you get the idea). When I click on one of them, I see apps that I had when I was on 3.0.1. When I click on the other, I see apps I have now. Now logically, it seems that I could delete the folder that has the apps from when I was on 3.0.1. I'm a bit paranoid about doing it though. Has anyone had this experience? Is it OK to delete those folders? I've got plenty of memory left on the phone so its not like I NEED the space. But I'm anal and if it's not necessary, I'd like to get rid of it. Any advice?
Don't delete. I found myself in the same situation when I run redsn0w on the phone. The folders without extension are the original, the ones with extension are created after direct jb on the phone. If you jb by running pwnagetool on your pc to make a custom version of the fw and restoring the custom version fw to the phone you won't have the second set of folders.
