Unlocking Iphone via Links that Charge $1.89
I know that you can unlock an Iphone for free. However, there are many people out there than are very unsure and are not totally computer savvy. There are links on various sites that only charge $1.89 and they provide a code to unlock your phone. I personally think that is very reasonable and the way to go for some people. If this can be done, it would be cheap and much easier than trying to unlock the other way.
Has anyone done it that way? Comments?
Happy New Year!

A code? huh haven't heard about that scam yet. I guess this might be easier for some people, but it's free, why would you pay?

Yes, I agree it is free if you download, install, execute, download, install, etc.
However, my point and question is:
If you would only pay $1.89, enter your phone number and then receive a code to enter and that would unlock your phone, it would be worth $1.89. I know I would do it if it is that easy. That's why I asked if anyone has done it and knows anything about it.
Personally I am still using OS 3.0 and don't feel a need to upgrade to 3.1.2 because of the time it takes and the trouble to reinstall apps.
If I could keep what I have without downloads, installs, etc., upgrade to 3.1.2 and then pay $1.89 for a code to enter into my phone without the other steps, I would do it.
My time is worth more than $1.89.
Comments regarding the pay option?

To my knowledge you cannot just enter a code to unlock the iPhone. It is not like any other phone unless a code unlocks the carrier and that is it. If this is true then ok why not, but I think you should not jail break your phone unless you know what you are doing or are willing to learn. I don't post much but I have been on here awhile reading and watching. Too many people jail break their phones and then cry because something did not work right or they don't know what to do and they won't research the problem.

1. I assume (LOL) that when you JailBreak an iPhone, that is what you are doing. Unlocking the phone so you can use a different Provider other than AT&T. Would this code do the same thing?
2. That is my point! JailBreaking an iPhone is not always easy and many people do have problems doing it. That's why I posted this.
I have unlocked many phones such as an MDA, Wing and Omnia I900. I have Flashed these phones, too. I have had problems and finally was very successful. But the time and effort was not always easy.
If a code will unlock the iPhone, pay $1.89 and your done. That's why I keep posting and asking this question.
Thanks for your input!

^ ditto. If there were some sort of code to do a unlock we would have heard of it. You would be throwing your money away, save it and buy a Happy Meal at McDonalds.

Jailbreaking is not unlocking an iPhone to use on any network.
And these codes work on other handsets, but not the iPhone. The Original Autobot of MMiJesus couldn't turn into a fire engine
