Help. Dead strip, need to SSH without WiFi
OK, so here's the deal. I've done a lot of research and now I am just stumped.
I have an iPhone 2g (OS 3.1.2, iTunes 9.0.2, OSX 10.6.2) that has a dead strip on the bottom of the screen, at least big enough to not allow me to "slide to unlock". Ultimately, I figured it would be ideal to be able to use Veency and Chicken of the VNC to get my iPhone setup.
Now that SnowLock is out, I figured I would attempt to move the unlock to the top.
Here's my issue, again, I can't unlock the phone to access Cydia, or anything else for that matter. I used Pwnage Tool and installed Veency, Cydia, OpenSSH and OpenSSL via Pwnage Tool. I tried iTunnel (PC) and iPhoneTunnel (Mac), but neither one will connect for me. I can't connect to WiFi so I can properly SSH because I can't get to the settings so it connects. Because of that, I don't have an IP address.
I have access to the phone via DiskAid, but that doesn't allow me to launch DEB files. I know I can copy them to Cydia Autoinstall and reboot, but i still can't open them to adjust the settings.
I guess the simple question is, can someone help me figure out a way to VNC into my without being able to use the iphone screen at all??
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I feel like I've tried almost everything.
Thanks!!!
BTW: This phone is purely a backup, I have a 3G as my daily phone. I'd like to get the 2G working enough so it becomes an iPod for my iHome.
++++++++UPDATE+++++++++
I can now SFTP into the phone without WIFI via iphonetunnel on the mac and itunnel on the PC. Still can't get Veency to work. I realized that I not only need to install Veency, but also libvncserver. I created a new firmware with Pwnage Tool that included libvncserver, still no luck. Now I see that there are other dependencies. Off to create yet another custom firmware.Last edited by mergedown; 01-01-2010 at 12:02 PM.
