Connecting to an Ad Hoc Network?

I'm trying to get my iPhone to connect to my laptop via and Ad Hoc network so i can use the Apple Remote program when i'm away from my home network. I have created an AdHoc network on my laptop and it appears in my list of available networks on my iPhone, but when i attempt to connect to it and enter the password the phone just hangs there indefinately until i hit the home button to get out. I'm not sure if this is a problem with my phone, or it there is something wrong with my process here.

Anybody have any input?

I have comment. I stumbled upon your post researching the same problem. On my Windows Vista computer I got it working but it's very unreliable. I have found some other posts about it, some on Apple's forum. Here is another post where the user also mentions the unreliability of this:

So the point is it seems to be but it's unreliable. Darn.
