Default How to Move Stuff from old iPhone 2G to new iPhone 3GS

I just bought a new iPhone 3GS and I was wondering if there is a way to still connect my old iphone to my coumputer and move the photos, contacts, ringtones, old texts over to the new iPhone before itunes becomes associated with it?

I have an old 2G iPhone with original SIM which is no longer active. It has not been synced for about 3 months.

I have a new 3GS iPhone which as not yet been connected to my computer with my itunes. It has a new SIM which has been activated but it has yet to be synced to computer.

You can still sync/backup your 2g now....then sync your 3gs to that backup.

Should i put the old sim in before doing this or do it without the sim? Will it ask to activate the sim?
