Default When shut down my Iphone needs to restore before it can connect to itunes?

    Hey Lads,

Im pretty new to the iphone, but i managed to jailbreak it via the easy blackra!n program. I got one huge problem tho.

When I shut down my iphone and want to turn it back on the bitxx wants me to connect to itunes before it will turn on - once it has connected to itunes it wants me to restore the iphone to the "save settings" (not sure whats it called)".

Is there anyway i can avoid that, with an jailbroken iphone - or is that just the way it is right now?

I got a iphone 3GS 16GB - using v. 3.1.2 and jailbroke it with blackra!n and installed AppSync via Cydia.

If anyone could shad any light on this it would be highly appreciated. Cheers.

    Hello,

What you're noticing is a tethered jailbreak. This means, if you ever run out of battery or need to reboot your device, you need to connect your iPhone to your computer and run blackra1n to boot your device back up.

You'll see the DFU Mode screen (iTunes + USB cord) but simply:

    - Close iTunes
    - Run blackra1n.exe
    - Your iPhone will boot up normally

All you're using blackra1n to do is boot your iPhone. It is not re-jailbreaking or restoring your iPhone. You don't have to do that.

    Hey kabamodern,

So what your saying is; 1. connect my iphone via usb to my pc. 2. shut down itunes - and 3rd. run blackra!n again???

and then it should be all good?

    Correct.

All blackra1n is doing once you re-run after your reboot your iPhone is booting your iPhone out of recovery (DFU Mode).

Ahhh nice it worked - if i understand it correct. I shut down my iphone, rebooted it, the "connect to itunes" logo came on the screne - i shut down itunes and run blackra!n - and then it booted normally.

But it is annoying that you have to connect to your pc each time you have shut down your iphone :-/ Guess theres nothing to do about that huh?

    Yep, you got it correct.

And yes, unfortunately this is what you'll need to do if you want to have a jailbreak. It seems geohot is not working on a fix for the tethered jailbreak. The reason this is a problem is because Apple refreshed the 3G[S] product line and upgraded the bootrom (iBoot) version in the refresh models to combat the jailbreak. Essentially, the updated bootrom kills the 24kpwn exploit used to jailbreak all other devices.

But hey, it's better than nothing - right?
