    Default Backwards Screen During Call

So, I browsed the forums and couldn't find anything about this one....

Typically, when you make a call, the screen goes blank when the phone is to your ear (it senses the heat from your head), and then when you pull it from your head, your screen should come on.

For some reason, it's backwards for me. When I put the phone to my ear, the screen comes on, and when I pull it off, the screen goes out.

This prevents me from hanging up and dialing any numbers (for those automated switchboards). I have to place my hand over the screen to get it to come back on, and I can barely see the hang-up button, but enough to end the call.

Any ideas? I'm using the 3.0 firmware on a 3G.

That's REALLY weird. (BTW, it's a proximity sensor, it uses a radar-like technology, not heat) Even after rebooting? What about in Safe Mode?

Heh, well, not only does it continue to do this after reboot, but I just tried upgrading to 3.1.2, and unlocking. After successfully doing so, it's still exhibiting this behavior.

In both cases, Cydia was installed on the phone. I think there might be a connection - I'm going to restore the phone to 3.1.2 firmware, jailbreak with blackra1n, and NOT install Cydia.

I'll keep ya posted on the results.

Okay, problem has been fixed. Here's what I did:

    1. Restored firmware through iTunes to 3.1.2 / removed cover.
    2. Jailbroke with blackra1n.
    3. Unlocked with blacksnow.
    4. Noticed that the phone was in SILENT MODE. Switched the switch back to normal.
    5. Rebooted.

I'm not sure if it had something to do with not installing Cydia, removing my case, or making sure that the phone was NOT in silent mode before rebooting. I suppose if this became a common issue, I could troubleshoot. But I've spend the entire day trying to figure this out, and I really don't want to screw with it anymore.
