Unhappy charging problems and jailbreak ...

Hi just bought a new iphone 3gs and have a few questions regarding it,

    1) Just wondering with previous mobile (sony, nokia, etc) i owned, I am able to shut off the devices and charge them but with the iphone 3gs 3.1.2, no matter how I shut down the device, the moment I plug in the power cord to the socket, it will boot up and charge. How am I going to charge without powering on?

    2) I jailbreak the phone with success (blackra1n showing successful) but why is it that when I turn off and power up, it keeps showing me the "usb to itunes" picture? and when i plug it in on my desktop, it boots up. Why is it so? So is it jailbroken or not?

    1. As you found out, when plugged in and charging, it turns on. Can't think of a viable way around this, nor a necessary reason.
    2. The new iPhones produced only allow a tethered jailbreak with blackra1n, where you must plug your phone into a computer and run blackra1n on each reboot. Did you run blackra1n after the boot up? Did you restore the phone in iTunes after reboot? If you restored with iTunes, then you must re-jailbreak with blackra1n.
