Keep 3G active while screnn is locked?

Does anyone know if 3G is supposed to stay active while the screen is locked?

My Iphone loses Internet connectivity shortly after it's locked. However, I need it to always stay on so that I am able to receive incoming SIP calls.

I am on 3.0, but I think this was not happening when I was on 2.x.

Is there a way to force the Internet to remain active, even when it's locked?

Download 'backgrounder' and background the app you want to keep running. That should work.

Thanks, but it did not work.

I am using SIAX, I enabled backgrounding, locked, left locked for 2 minutes, and when I unlocked it, SIAX gave me a message : No Internet Connection.

15-20 seconds later, the connection comes back and I am able to connect to my SIP server.

Any other thoughts?
