Can't hear person at the other end.. help..
I have an 3GS and have it jailbroken, however I have had this reoccuring problem since even before I JB it where I call a person and the call connects but I never hear it ring or hear them at the other end. When I look at the display it shows the call connected and the timer going up but no sound.
I have tried switching to loud speaker and back to normal and this doesn't work. I have also tried using bluetooth headset but this still doesn't work.
It doesn't happen all the time but prob 1 in 20 calls. If I reboot the phone the problem goes away for a while.
Anyone else had such a problem?
Thanks

Faulty Iphone
Restore it and take it back... complain to them and they will replace it!

Surely this must be a software issues as it works 9 out of 10 times. If it was a fault speaker then my headset would work?
Anyone else having simular problems?

Ok, so restored the phone and took it to the genisus bar who swapped out the handset for a new phone.
Set this up again from scratch (no restore in iTunes), Jailbroke it and its been fine for about 4 days and then the same happened again??
Tried putting the phone in flight mode and then back, same happened.
It wasn't resolved until I rebooted the phone!
Does any one else experience this issue? Any more ideas?
Thanks

Need more information. What do you have installed on your phone? Almost sounds like a network issue if you continue to experience it on different phones.

Hi,
I have the following installed:-
BackGrounder
Kirikae
LockInfo + All addons
MobileTerminal
WeatherIcon
Winterboard
SBSettings
+ many apps from the App Store.
Could any of these be the root cause? I did have this problem before JB'ing the device..
Thanks

I would suggest restoring and not Jailbreaking for both of you. See if the issue continues without the phone being jailbroken.

and also check your reception when this happens. this happens to me once in awhile as well but not enough to bother me

Reception is usually fine when this happens. If I restart the phone its ok again and haven't moved from the living room??
Ok, so it has happened again today. I tried the following:-
1. Use SBSettings/Process and Free Up Memory = Didn't work
2. Disabled Bluetooth, Wifi and 3G = Didn't work
3. Turned on Flight Mode then back off = Didn't work
4. Performed a re-spring using SBSSettings = WORKED!!
Could this mean that it is JB related?

I highly doubt it is jailbreak related. But why don't you restore your phone and use it without jailbreaking for a few days and see if it still happens. Sounds more like network issues however.

I guess I can try that, but really didn't want to due to the hastle of doing it.
I am completely confused what it can be as I know this did happen before Jailbreak but probably not as often.
I have rang O2 and they have sent me a new SIM card and are now sending me another but they say this can't be the network that it must be the SIM card (which they have changed once!!)
It can't be the phone as its new!
The only common things are O2 and the apps I install.
Is there an app that can reboot my phone on a given schedule like overnight or once a week as this will reduce this occurances of this happening??
How frustrating....

Well you already have SBSettings which you can use to reboot the phone daily. But you will have to manually press reboot on the phone. If you have a new sim I wouldn't say the sim is causing the problem. If this continues to happen I would ask O2 to send a signal to your phone, reset the network settings, and then have then send the signal again. Most likely it is indeed all caused by network issues and O2 doesn't want to admit to it. This happens with T-Mobile and At&t here in the US occasionally and a quick reset of the network setting s with the network signal seems to help.

Yeah I could use SBSettings to reboot but was hoping to be able to do it whilst asleep so phone is all set and ready for when I get up. Are there no other JB apps that may allow this? Also would they be able to handle a passcode?
Should I try resetting my own network settings when it happens to see if this fixes it?
When you say get O2 to send a signal should I be using the phone to contact them? What will this show?
So it does happen with other carriers? Has no one found a way around this or the network providers managed to fix...
Thanks for your help.. much appreciated.

Not sure of an App that allows this, but I will look into it.
You can try resetting the network settings on your own to see if you find a fix.
If you do call your network, call from a different phone so you can do some trouble shooting techniques with the phone you are having the issue with. And it does happen with other carriers. I elate it to crappy serviceIf I helped you, hit the

Just to chime in that I have a 3GS as well and does this every once in a while like every other week. I don't know what is causing it either as I experimented but it doesn't happen often so its hard to find the problem. A reset with SBSettings solves the problem but I'm not too worried about it.
