Iphone crashed upon restore and re-jail break issues

Hello everyone,
Please bear with me because I'm new with this iphone thing. Well what happened was there was an error with winterboard and it suddenly crashed and wouldn't do anything but boot and shut down everytime i started it. So I went ahead and restored it with a fresh update and then broke it with blackrain. Everything worked fine and I went ahead and restored an old backup file with it. Once I did that there was no cydia installed on the unit however everything seemed okay, it just added my downloaded apps and contacts/music/etc back on. Once I installed cydia I lost my contact, mail, email, etc and couldn't find cydia. When I searched for emails they came up in the search but it was missing the app the read it (popped up with an error).
Now I'm stuck with an iphone that can make calls, has no direct access to emails/safari etc... And no way to download cydia through blackrain since it just doesn't show up.

Sorry about the long post.. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

i suggest backup your contacts/calendar via a software on your computer (if you can, given that you're having issues with them on your iphone), restore and rejailbreak your phone and set it up as new. it sounds like there may be a problem with your itunes backup

I wound up restoring with a un-jailed firmware, blackrained it to break it and have yet to try installing Cydia. Everytime I've installed Cydia via blackrain it just hides a ton of my icons and I can't even search for them.

I am going to try installing Rock and downloading SBsettings to see if I can hide/unhide the missing icons after installing cydia. I'm tempted to scrap this plan and buy a 3gs that doesn't have a tempermental charging dock and just jailbreak that.
