Is it at all possible to transfer files between windows xp SP1 and a JB iphone 3.1.2 without itunes and with out wifi?

There are a few programs you can use for direct file transfers, including iPhone Explorer and iPhoneBrowser. However, I prefer iPhone Folders myself, which adds another drive to My Computer corresponding to the iPhone, from which point you can transfer files freely. If you jailbroke with Blackra1n, you will probably have to install the "afc2add" package from Cydia in order for any of these programs to let you view the true root of your device rather than the mobile root (which is at /var/mobile/media I believe).
As far as adding music and videos for use in the iPod app without installing iTunes, there are a few programs that should be able to do this, but I don't know exactly which ones off-hand.

If you're a Total Commander user, you can install T-Pot and do it through that.

The problem is that all of these programs, as great as they are, require iTunes. And in iTunes lies Apple's Mobile Device Runtime Support. the file: iTunesMobileDevice.dll cannot be loaded.
So, I guess there is NO way around it. I need iTunes to transfer files.Last edited by gd420mj; 12-04-2009 at 09:54 AM.

Oh, I didn't even know that. Hmm, well there might just not be a way round that problem then.

I use IFUNBOX.EXE and it works great. It is much easier than trying to use WiFi to transfer my Office (Word, Excel and PDF) files from my PC to my 3g. I can add photos and music, too. If you can't find it, I will attach it if that is acceptable to this forum.

iFunbox also requires iTunes to be installed, so that one is out of the question as well.

Yes I'm afraid you'll need iTunes as programs such as funbox need to be able to call the dll.. Do old versions of iTunes not work with your version of win?

Can also upload to the net and then download it with Safari Download Manager. Though emailing probably would be the easiest one.

Yeah, sure, but in my case it also concerns systemfiles like plist's etc.
-- edit --
I do use WiFi and found that winscp is working great. But yeah, if you don't have WiFi... that does change the whole story :SLast edited by little_ghost; 11-16-2010 at 02:00 AM.

He might not be able to depending on what else he is trying to run, like networking stuff where the computer has to be moded perfect to correctly run the program
Since he said he's on SP1 i wound assume he needs to be on that and is tech savy, more so if he said he didn't know what version of Xp he's running then it would make more sense to suggest this good try through

See, i still read my old threads. (I dont have too many). I don't think I ever solved that issue. I think I moved on. I have old XP SP1 computer, and I cannot update it. (it's unlicensed). So at the time, I had some old portable drives that only worked on that computer. I was trying to transfer files via USB. There was no internet connection to the computer either. If there was Internet, i probably could have did like an FTP transfer or ifile. I now have an iP4 with it's own problems and and Mac mini with 10.4.11 and no iP4 support. At least my windows XP media edition laptop can support the iP4. All my music is on the Mac.. Haha. But when I can afford to update mini, i will. Heck, question, can I go from os x 10.4.11 right the new Lion? I know I can go to snow leopard, just haven't done it. But i think i lose something there, like iLife.
