Wishlist for the next iphone (after 3GS)

. 1 Ghz processor
. 512 RAM
. 8 mp camera
. xenon flash (apple would'nt settle for led flash !)
. front facing camera
. official lockscreen widgets
. Multitasking
. New shape (something different)

can you all think of something more !

I'd like the camera to be moved from the corner. When I'm holding the phone horizontal like a real camera my hand is always in the way.

how about a wvga 4" inch screen.

The screen size will most likely stay the same. all 100,000+ apps are written written for 320x480 (i think) resolution which means any change from this would require a complete re-write of all apps. That's just not gonna happen.

The 3GS processor runs everything just fine and the 256 MB of RAM doesn't even come close to being used up. A flash and front facing camera would come in handy though. An OLED screen would save some battery life for sure. Overhauling the design of the back case is a must!

Possibly a slide out keyboard, New design for sure. Thinner would be nice but screen size is good the way it is. Better graphics for games if possible to make it more of a competitor for psp and DSi. Dual card for use with Verizon. Change Text tones natively. Themeing or at least be able to change the looks and not just invert colors. Widgets would be nice. The camera with flash is a must. 8 mp is asking alot though, id be happy with 6. Digital zoom for maybe 5x? Or even dual lenses like my actual camera for up to a 10x zoom. with out an optical lense. The list doesnt end.. OH and live tv streaming, like Cellular Video on my old razr or Shine or xenon... WHy can the unsmart phones do it but the smartest smart phone cant?

Different speaker placement. When I'm in landscape mode my hands always cover the speakers and repositioning my hand (when you're playing a game, you grasp the controller with your palm... not dangle it between fingers) makes for awkwardness.

And more battery life.. this thing drains it up so much quicker than my HTC Magic (Android) and TP2 (WM6.5.2)

So only i suggested that they scale down the existing apps and games.
It is perfectly possible to scale down to a lower resoultion if they ever happen to give us WVGA.

Not really.. it would apply if the display was say, a CRT but for LCDs, no. If you ever set your resolution of your monitor to anything below native you would know clearly know how bad everything looks. Same applies to your phone display - LCD is LCD.

The iPhone was the first all touch virtual keyboard phone invented and to go "backwards" and put in a clunky slide out keyboard would go against all things Apple and innovative. It's about moving forward with design and ideas... not copying what others have done.

Bingo! My hands always cover the speaker. Very annoying IMO.

Yes, but the virtual keyboard isnt very good when it is in landscape cause it takes over a good 2/3 of the screen. An option to have the slide out keyboard for landscape texting to where you have the entire screen to see your text would be nice. Almost like a sidekick. Just my two cents. Even i'm probably one of five people in the world that has typed a 1000+ word paper on my iphone because my laptop battery died and i didnt have my charger lol.

support for avi and other formats plus download capability built in would be a dream but its never gonna happen. Well maybe the downloads but not avi. As is right now perian says the hardware wouldnt support avi Perian - The swiss-army knife of QuickTime components but maybe next time it'll be fast enough for a hack

I would'nt want a slide out keyboard but a keyboard as an additional attachment accessory would be good, also external gamepads by 3rd parties would be a cool addition. It would then give PSP and DS a nice competition.

Thats a good point, all the software things mentioned can be done via jailbreak so why do u care if apple does it next year when we have it already?
