HELP! Extremely odd iphone issues!!
It began with audio issues, i played music through the speakers and the volume kept coming off and on while the song played.

- nxt a strange static noise kept coming on intermittently through the speakers while loading apps
- home button no longer worked
- attempted to make a call but the signals always suddenly disappear
- attempted to restore but connecting usb cable to comp does not load itunes nor does it show that it is connected to anything on the iphone itself
- connecting usb to wall socket charger does not show that it is connected on the iphone as well
- i turned it off and on several times and held the power and home button several times to reboot.
basically can someone, ANYONE, please help me figure out how to restore this damn thing when A. its not being recognize when connected and B. the home button does not work, or atleast it seems to not work...
oh and to top it all off, i think the batt probably died and i connected to a wall socket, now its turning OFF and on and off and on...
any help would be DEEEPly appreciated!

first of all try putting it into DFU Mode then see if itunes recognises it and if that doesn't work then just send it back to apple and get a new one

if i helped don't forget to hit thanks

Thnx but i tried putting it to DFU, still not recognized by comp. but even if i didnt try that already, plugging in the phone to the comp just shuts it off and on and off and on etc etc...
Right now i cant even turn it on for longer than a period of 2 seconds when its connected to the charger or comp. when its not connected to anything it wont even respond to the power button or combination of both pwr button and home button.
P.S. Could Jailbreaking the phone cause this to happen? It has only been 2 days since i jailbreaked it.

DFU mode is the key to restoring your phone, if the home button doesn't work it's almost impossible. May be time to have it replaced if in warranty.

Disconnect from the computer. Hold home and power at the same time for about 20 seconds to try and force into recovery mode which you will see the connect to iTunes logo. If you can get it to this then it will restore.

Thank you. Unfortunately I'm out of warranty and if i had extended it, i dont think the pineapple appearance would help me. lol Luckily a new one is only 99 bucks.
Do you think a jailbreaking contributed to this issue? I've seen a previous thread where other people have reported the same issues I had initially. I may be bit hesitant to jailbreak it again...
Thank you. Before I had the additional issues of turning on and off, I was able to go into recovery mode, however itunes did not recognize it and it didn't appear anywhere on my comp.Last edited by Rose8; 12-01-2009 at 10:18 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

No, jailbreaking it I am sure had nothing to do with it.

If iTunes is not detecting your phone:
Try another USB port...do not use a hub. Hubs include the USB ports on the front of your desktop computer. Try one in the back.
Uninstall everything iTunes related in ADD/Remove programs if you are on Windows and then install the latest iTunes again.

Thanks, but i have tried different usb ports along with 2 different usb cables. Im running on a mac. I think im going to head to the apple store and purchase a new one, it won't even turn on now, it just comes on then off then on and off etc (when plugged into the wall charger or comp).
