How much "Free RAM" does the 3GS have?

Like with just Phone, Mail, SMS, and/or whatever default apps are running?
I found backgrounder, and it's great, it's how the phone should be, with my 24/7 skype connection, and INSTANT opening/usable NOTES.
But when I have my alarm clock, notes, skype, and the usual processes running I have like 10mb left. I know the 3GS has double the ram, so does it use all the extra ram too?
I generally have 30-50 megs of ram free, higher when I kill extra processes.

basically programs will gobble up as much ram as they can get. when you open more apps the operating system will divvy up the ram.

How much when your not doing anything?
I mean, Phone, mail, and one other random thing always seem to be open, how much do you have with just those two/three apps running?

Mine has 123 MB free with just those 3 apps running. But i also have quite a few J/B things on too. Like notifier and SBSettings

Mine has about 140MB free when I first boot. After a while drops to 115 or so after while of use.

is the lack of ram on my 3g the reason why my messages and other apps take forever to open... i literally have mail phone and messages open and ill have like 13 MB if im lucky

could there be something wrong with my phone.. i dont have any background apps


the only thing i have that i can think would slow my phone down is. i have 1 full theme.. multiple blank icons.. and the words that scroll across my screen

I notice that when I wipe the phone for a day after it's nice and fast, I don't really install much from Cydia, I keep that to a minimum.
But it really pisses me off that I have to wait 10 minutes to open a new blank note.

Most of it is simply the program LOADING either into ram, or the CPU being slow.

Once you get backgrounder, and set it to use Notes in the background, the program is loaded, and when you click, it opens instantly and does its thing with speed. Just make sure you check cydia and take out anything you don't need, that wasn't there when you started.

if u mean "free up space" as in wipe then i do that a few times a day.. it will be quick for about 20 mins and slow down again

i literally just freed up space to show it



btw would backgrounding messages work well? thats the biggest pain is waiting for that to load
