rock update question ( ultrasnOw )

hello all
ive just opened rock up and i have updates available
one of which is an update for ultrasnOw
do i really need to update ultrasnOw ? or is this just the software used for JBing ?
whats the benefits of me updating it ?

I believe it's an update to fix the carrier logo problem that comes when you have firmware 3.1/3.1.2 while your baseband version is 04.26.08

You can go ahead and update it.
