Default How to send and receive vCard contact info

Is the an app / tweak in the Appstore or in Cydia that allows me to both send and receive vCard contact info via SMS, email and BT? There are apps such as beamME that can send vCards, but I'd also like something that recognises a vCard SMS / BT stream / email attachment and gives me the option of adding it as a contact.

I'm thinking that someone has come up with something 2+ years after the iPhone launch...

    Many thanks.

sending and receiving vCards via email or sms/mms (I think for some reason the iphone sends an MMS) is already possible.

via BT ... not that I know of.

Ok, what software do you recommend for SMS/MMS?

the standard sms app does the trick. if you receive a contact you can just tap it and it gives you the options to save it. to send a contact, go into your phone app, into a contact, scroll all the way down and tap "share contact"

That has never worked for me, receiving a contact does indeed give me the option of saving it, but on the review screen it's all gibberish. No name, some random number in the phone number field. It's even worse if I receive a 'more complete' contact which includes multiple numbers, notes, address and email. I have tested with both Sony Ericsson and Blackberry phones.

I really love the iPhone, but this is one of those times when I wish that a competitive Android alternative was available. That’s why I didn’t buy the iPhone prior to 3.0, there’s no way I would have found a device without MMS, multiple-recipients SMS and copy & paste usable.

I can only send contacts via email. If I share a contact through text the receiver never gets it.

But how do you receive contacts - also via email? At least sending contacts via text works for me.

I can only receive via email as well.

Edit: the mms with the contact just showed up so I can receive via mms, but not send that way.

well, I can't say what happens if you receive a vCard from another phone, I just know it SHOULD work. but sending and receiving vCards between iphones works 100%, I'm sure of that.

if you have mail set up on the iphone, you can simply go into the email, tap the attachment (vcard) and then save the contact.

I can send and receive MMS just fine, but I cannot send a contact this way. Probably a glitch that I hope will clear up once I make the move to 3.1.2.

It sends(meaning it leaves the phone), but the recipient never receives them. I am on a legit iPhone plan with AT&T and it just never has worked.
