im completely lost as to what you are trying to do..

you cannot find files on your desktop over SSH on your iphone..

"cd" is change directory.. but on your iPhone, you will only be able to get as far as root "/".. if you are wanting to add files to the iPhone.. you need to download WinSCP then you can drag and drop your files from PC to a dir on the phone... THEN you will be able to find it on the iPhone..

It will help if you let us know what you are trying to do, as i dont understand what your intent it..

you wont need to.. Provided you dont update the firmware on your phone in the future, you can always restore it to default 3.1.2/5.11.07 which is current and jailbroken/unlocked..

Downgrading was for people that accidentally updated their phone before there was an unlock for it.. there was talk that one might never be found so everyone was freaking out.. But its been unlocked and people now know better then to update through itunes. lol

So even if a new firmware comes out then I will be able to restore to 3.1.2??? Because as far as I have heard if a new firmware comes out you can only update to a new one? As before performing a restore it is checked with apple

stock firmware is readily available.. hold shift when clicking restore in itunes.. it will let you pick the FW file you want..

you cant load custom FW unless its already jailbroken, but you can load up the stock file no prob, then JB/UL using current methods..

that's not true. you cannot restore a 3GS to any firmware other than the newest.

@OP: if you want to keep your phone downgradeable, you don't need to get the SHSH yourself. just jailbreak your phone and tap the "make my life easier" button in cydia, and the SHSH for every firmware will automatically be stored on the cydia server.

Ok after that I'd be lost because I don't understand how to do most thing I'm just trying for practice so I know what to do when time comes to restore to 3.1.2 if a new fw comes out
