help - won't stop pushing!

Hi everyone, new here. Just picked up a 3GS and switched over from sprint and the pre.

I've jailbroken it and all is well except my mail. Not sure if its related, I don't think so.

Anyways, obviously I'm not thrilled about battery life so I want to make it best as possible.. I have sbsettings installed to make sure i keep 3g/gps off and stuff when not needed. I want to set my mail to fetch, rather than push (again, to save battery life - correct?)

But no matter what I set it as.. it will NOT stop pushing. I still get the mail within a few minutes or instantly. Advanced setting is on fetch, slider for push is off, etc.

Doesnt make sense to me. Anyone have any ideas? This is with Yahoo mail btw.

I've done plenty of searching but only find opposite problems of it not pushing - mine just wont stop!

sounds strange.
first let me say that push and fetch don't really have a lot of difference regarding battery life ... so you might as well stay with push.
if you want to disable push, disabling it in the main mail settings should be enough - works alright for me. then again, I'm using gmail.
