All contacts deleted (even though I backed up 'AddressBook.sqlitedb')

Hi, I have just upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1.2 and its deleted everything. This was expected. But not my contacts!!

My old Laptop got stolen and I just bought a new one which has nothing and therefore my contacts arn't in Outlook!

Luckily, before I upgraded to 3.2.1 I SSH'd into my iPhone and saved 'AddressBook.sqlitedb' which I thought is the file which has all of my contacts on.

After installed 3.1.2, I SSH'd into my iPhone again and put the 'AddressBook.sqlitedb' file into where it should go, and then restarted my phone, and.... Nothing!

I still have no contacts!! Why??? and how do I get them back!!??

(Theyre not on the sim card itself either)

Bump!

Why didnt you just sync your iPhone to your new computer before you restored, that wouldve saved the contacts onto your computer.

No it doesnt delete contacts from the sim and if you had some on it you can import them, go to settings mail, contacts, calender, and scroll down and import contacts from sim. It worked for me because I used my sim in many other phones before my iphone. If it works make sure you backup your contacts this time I use windows address book and now I never have to worry about lossing them. Hope I helped

Well if nothing else, you can manually extract them from the file. Get something that reads sqlite and just open the file and start writing =)
