Will Apple accept my iPhone 2G in exchange for a 3G?
I have a jailbroken/unlocked iPhone 2G but the touchscreen has failed. Whenever I use my finger to change the screen,e tc. it doesn't work. When my phone is locked, I can't slide to unlock, it doesn't move.
If I go to Apple and show them this, what can I say or do for them to charge me the $200 for an iPhone 3G?
If you jailbreak it, it automatically voids what ever warranty you have. No, they will not replace your phone with a 3g. They won't even have another 1st gen phone to replace your broken one.
yeah so thats what i dont understand, they dont even sell the 2G's anymore.. If I show them that my touchscreen isn't working, can they upgrade me to the 3G for $199? I restored my phone to factory settings so it's not jailbroken anymore. The half bottom of the touch screen doesn't function so it's just stuck on the Earth logo on the lock screen.
you should call apple and tell them your problem and they can answer you. If you have a 2G iphone and want to upgrade to a 3G, then you need to sign up for a new 2year contract + the price of your new phone.
I went to the Apple Store and showed them the problem with the slider not responding. They tried to get me to sign a 2 Year Contract and get the 3G for $99 or a 3GS for $199. I told them a lot of people are having this problem with the bottom half of their screen not working and they went to Apple to exchange it. The genius offered me a "flat rate" repair fee which is $200 and now I have a brand new 8GB iPhone 3G.
