Updating baseband only - possible?

Now that 05.11.07 has been unlocked, I'm wondering whether it is possible to update just the baseband without a restore. Also, the Devteam has said that updating the baseband bears no advantages, but wouldn't the baseband update contain updates for reception and other fixes, or does 05.11.07 only fix whatever exploit was previously being used for unlocking?

There are no advantages nor disadvantages to upgrading to the latest baseband.

Are baseband updates only intended to close exploits, then?

Also, a potential advantage of upgrading to 05.11 would be carrier logos properly functioning, so with 3.1.2 and 05.11 there is at least one advantage, right?

And PS- You cant update the baseband without a restore.

There really are no advantages in upgrading to baseband 05.11.07 and as you suspect it's an update to close exploits. In addition some users are having problems with the blacksn0w unlock (loss of Wi-Fi etc).

I know it's tempting to upgrade thinking it will fix issues you might not even know about or improve performance, but unlike a software upgrade from say 3.0 to 3.1.2 which brings tangible benefits, a baseband upgrade to 05.11.07 does not.

Alright, thanks for all the info. I'll not bother upgrading now, I'll just wait for the next firmware.
