Live Clock Widget for iPhone?
EDIT: I found a theme that includes some very nice clock widgets that are exactly what I have been looking for. I would like to express my profound thanks to Melech518 for his help.
Here is the other theme.
http://modmyi.com/forums/new-skins-t...981-dro1d.html
Greetings. I have a jailbroken iPhone 3G running 3.0 firmware. I have downloaded liveclock from cydia and was wondering if there was some way to make the icon for it much bigger?
Basically what i want is a large clock widget that I can move and put anywhere on my springboard, kinda like on Android OS. Is there any way to do this?
More specifically, has someone already done this? If not, how can I do it?
Operating on the assumption that I will never get a break in life and that no one has done something like this, I started messing around with one of the live clock winterboard themes.
I managed to edit the .png file for the live clock and make the image the correct size, but now it's too blurry, and the corners of the clock aren't transparent. How can I increase the resolution?
Also, how can I edit the clock hands so that they are the right size? They are displaying the correct time, but the are sized for a much smaller clock. It looks like the animation is .plist. How can I edit this?
Here's where I am right now.......Help?Last edited by sinatra87; 12-30-2009 at 03:11 PM.

Thank you very much for the rapid response. However, I possess neither Photoshop nor the funds necessary to purchase it.
I suppose I will eventually find an alternative for the icon, but what about the .plist? How can I make the clock hands bigger?

Try this plist...
For the clock, you will need another image. They file you sent me does not have enough of a pixel ratio. Find me a file or I can chose one for you that is similar. If I helped you, hit the

Thank you very much for the time you took out of your day to help me with this. The clock is almost exactly what I wanted and fits very nicely on my springboard. However, the clock hands are once again too small for the clock face. They keep the proper time, but it's hard to tell them apart because of their size. Awesome job though.
BTW, if it's not too much extra trouble, could you also do an android style clock of the same size?
EDIT: One more thing. Could you tell me how to make the icon hover a bit above the location of the app. so that it looks like its hanging in mid air. Just in case I want to tweak it later for another themeLast edited by sinatra87; 11-01-2009 at 07:26 PM.

Here is a screenshot of the latest file you emailed me. The hands are much better in size, but still could stand to be a bit larger. Once again, I must thank you for your work in this regard.

Thanks. The hands are just about perfect. The only problem now is that the clock hands now appear to be equal length, It is hard to tell the difference between the minute hand and hour hand. Is there anything that can be done about this? I have the .plist file of another clock widget that I was using before. Here is a picture and the .plist file for it just in case.
Here's also a screenshot of the last file you sent me. Lookin' good man.“I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps.”

That wont help. Different plist for a different app. Basically we are changing the values over and over again until you get the desired fit. I do not feel like installing this on my phone to test it which is why I am depending on you to tell me if it is at the desired size yet. Here is another plist file to use. If you know how to edit .plists then you can do this yourself as well. The values we are changing are in red:

Let me start off by apologizing for taking so long to respond. I had my wisdom teeth removed on Thursday and have been feeling much better. So today I tried doing some light work and almost passed out. I'm still a little woozy right now, so please forgive me if some of what I say comes out a little wrong. I will probably edit this post later to make it legible.
I just tried the .plist and it looks great. One thing though. It looks like both clock hands are rotated slightly too far clockwise. Also, the hour hand seems to be slightly too short. Otherwise, I like the way you have the hands set up now.
Also, I have no idea how to edit .plist, and honestly, right now I am too tired to try to look it up. I'm going to take it easy for a couple of days. Also, for when I'm away from the computer, try contacting me on twitter, as I am having problems with the Gmail on my iPhone. I haven't used my twitter account yet and am anxious to give it a whirl.
EDIT: I just spotted an issue. Check the second screen shot. The hands aren't aligned right.Last edited by sinatra87; 11-02-2009 at 04:34 PM.

I feel like such an evil critic to be saying this, but now the clock hands are about indistinguishable again. They are placed correctly, but both appear to be the same length. I am very sorry to be so much trouble to you. I really do appreciate your help and do not wish to make your life harder.

Haha, but he says thank you enough so I let it slide.

Give it a go. It is just a matter of tweaking it until you get it to your liking. You should look into downloading a plist editor such as BBedit.Last edited by Melech518; 11-02-2009 at 06:23 PM.

I must say, it's good to know you can be bribed.

Good job man. It looks awesome.
Out of curiosity, is it possible from the .plist to change the clock hands to look like antique style arrows? Or square? Or...change colors? Or is that edited elsewhere?
I will definitely look at getting a .plist editor as soon as I get past this week. I am still recovering from the surgery, so I'm taking it easy for awhile.
Thank you very much for bearing with me and for doing this widget thingy. I never would have been able to put this together on my own even if I had Photoshop and knew how to do .plist.
EDIT: I almost forgot to ask you: How can I move the .png so that the icon is above center? I would like to reposition the icon to better fit one of my android themes.
Now, for you to admire your work.Last edited by sinatra87; 11-03-2009 at 07:29 PM.

It is possible to make "digital 24h clock"?
No hands, only hour and minutes in number format...
