it's just one of the best features on the iphone, but whatever (depending on what you do with it, of course)

aaaanway: did you activate your phone officially? if not, you have to install "pushfix" (or something like that, search for push) from cydia to make it work. be aware that this method has a "bug" that makes you lose some of your push messages and you get push messages that were never directed at you.
if you want the best push experience you have to activate the phone officially through itunes

I dont think the phone was ever activated through itunes. I jailbroke it and then unlocked it. Thats it. I will search for push in CYDIA.
I would love to get this from my im contacts...

depends on your carrier. in germany there is a carrier allowing IM stuff and tethering, really cool. and honestly, I tried IM apps back when I used a carrier that didn't allow them ... it still worked fine and they never complained. just saying

well, like I said, push will work, but not as good as it would when itunes activated it.
do you have a working, official iphone sim? like if you bought it in the UK, you might have a O2 UK prepaid simcard that was delivered with the iphone?
if you have such a simcard, you can restore the iphone (remember to restore to a CUSTOM firmware if you wanna keep the unlock, and make sure you UNCHECK "activate iphone" in pwnagetool) and then just put your official sim in it. itunes will then activate the phone. as soon as the phone says "iPhone is activated" you can turn it off, put in the sim you want to use and install ultrasn0w.
