iPhone GPS Tethering
I was wondering it is possible to "tether" and iPhone's gps to the computer, and use the iphone as a gps module for a computer in apps like gps and wardriving apps for example.
you could do this on WinMo phones
wonder if its possible via usb or bluetooth?
i did a google search but everything was for internet tethering.
Cheers

I couldn't see how this would be possible. the only way would be an actual third-party-hardware that reads the GPS coordinates and transfers them to another device. afaik, no such device exists

It would be the worst gps signal ever getting computed by a pc. Just not worth the effort.

@roboguy
I am interested in doing this as well. Did you find anything more about this in the end?

well. if an app developer reads this, here's a free idea to make money.
make an iphone app that tethers the data location via gps and send it via wifi to the ipad using my3g/mywi.
then make an ipad app that receives that location data via wifi and links it via daemon to the default location services info.
@stlcaddie iPad Wifi owners don't really care if the signal would be bad. if anything it will be a battery problem. but I would say most of us have docks in car that charge at least one device. Thanks is an acknowledgment

maybe another way to go for it is:
the hotspot feature? (a tweak maybe to give gps location as well)
or
camera A - camera B kind of application?

Quick and cheap.
I found a cheap ($2) way to transfer realtime GPS data to a PC. I think this is what we were looking for in this thread.
