how can i access root folder?

I've been trying to access to root folder to change my sms sounds.
Before 3.1, i always did it with "DiskAid"
but after jailbreak on 3.1.2 3GS, when i try to load up the root folder, it just keeps saying "you need to jailbreak your device to see root folder", although i have my phone jailbroken.

Is there any other way to access root folder? Perhaps another program to use?
- no openSSH please, unless that is the only way. I don't have WiFi in my dorm.

My phone is Iphone 3GS 32G running on 3.1.2 software, jailbroken by Blackr1an on windows

You have 2 options. Use an SSH client or open Cydia and install "afc2add" which will patch the files needed for USB access.
