Default How to tell silent mode is enabled?

How can I see that my phone in silent mode at a glance? Non-iPhones place a crossed-out bell logo at the top when in silent mode, but the iPhone doesn't. I've already managed to place it on silent accidentally while in my pocket and missed a call as a result.

Is there perhaps a Cydia addon or other tweak to solve this? Many thanks!

Look at the side and see if the silent mode switch is switched on or off...
I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

Yes obviously, but I want to see this on screen if possible.

the screen doesn't show, but the red dot is a clear indicator. also, when you unlock the phone and you hear nothing ... well, you know it's in silent mode

Ok, thanks - I'm sure I'll get used to it. The red dot is indeed there but I think seeing everything in one place (the screen) is easier than two. It's like when your PC is on mute and you have to look for the indicator on the side of the box... bet that wouldn't be very popular

Or you can just use your finger to feel which position it's in...

Yes, that's done it - thanks! The app isn't really 3.x compatible (eg you can't launch it at all) but it does exactly what I wanted:
