google android
i know this is a stupid question, but if the dev team messes around with their devices just enough, might they get it to run google android?

the dev team is not trying to do that. I'm not saying it's impossible, but what's the point? iphone OS is superior anyway

That's your opinion. : )
so is it possible?
-

yeah, it is, android is way too ugly and slow for my taste
besides that, it might be technically possible, I don't know for sure ... but since android isn't opensource as far as I know, I think you won't be able to port android to the iphones hardware even if the iphone was able to run android

I'm sure it is if someone looked into it more...
Planetbeing got linux onto the iPhone.
Don't think anyone's looking into Android though.I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

No. OSX IS superior so that would be ignorant. There's a point where opinion and fact collide - and fact stomps a mud hole in opinions azz and we've found the ripple in time tonight.

it does ;-) it's called iphone OS. it's not exactly the same as desktop-mac-os-X, but technically it IS mac os X ... and it is superior to android, but I mean some people might like android better, and I respect that
and @angie: yeah, linux is portable because it's open source. that's what I was saying. I think android isn't. like I said, I can't be 100% sure, but I guess that android is compiled for a specific hardware architecture, which would make it not runable on iphone

If you want Android get an Android device! They've finally got some devices coming out with competent hardware. (Moto Tao, Samsung-Sprint thing)

How are you in this conversation?
You are looking at OSX every time you open your springboard.

I wouldn't bet on on Android ever running natively on iHardware. Not that it's technically impossible, but I don't see "the point". Sure, the iPhone OS could use quite a lot of improvement but nothing to mandate such a radical approach.

which is OSX, that's what everybody is saying
PS: it's not "like OSX" or "an offset of OSX" (can you say offset here? not sure, they don't teach you these things in english class in germany
) it IS OSX. it's just not OSX leopard/tiger/snow leopard/insert random cat here/
