FYI: Whether you use MakeItMine or battlecrushr's edit carrier.plist method, roaming carriers will appear as the same carrier name as your primary carrier.
If you have a factory unlocked iPhone 3G or 3GS, then restoring a stock 3.1.2 firmware will fix the carrier name problem (not the custom carrier logos). Starting with firmware 3.1, Apple starting signing the carrier bundle, which is why the carrier name is broken when you create a firmware by PwnageTool and restore a custom firmware.
As for the problem with custom carrier logos, it requires Winterboard in order to work, however, I have been reading that nobody has been able to get it to work since after firmware 2.2.1."When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather did...not kicking and screaming like the passengers in his car." -- Unknown

Hello I am not certain this is the right place to post, but it is related...
Here goes: I have a 3.0 JB 3gs and I recently used pwnage custom firmware to upgrade to 3.1.2. I enabled tethering and was able to fix the mms using Stealth's 6.0 att carrier file. I really like the custom att one by battlecrushr, but if I do use it, I loose MMS...If I don't use anything and stick without carrier id, I get MMS back.
Does anyone have similar problems with either get carrier logo and loose mms or get mms and no logo?
Thanks in advance.

Carrier logo fixer causes constant springboard crashes. Do not install!

Here is a T-Mobile_US plist file that will correct the issue for anyone wanting to keep the T-mobile unlimited data plan settings after the fix. Will also allow you to customize the logo.

Melech to the rescue! Thank you!!! I have tried EVERY plist out there and none of them work for a damn.
Carrier logo fixer version.1 worked just fine (once you switched out the mobistar logos) so of course he had to update the program and now it doesn't work. Glad I found this plist.
Oh and 2shared.com should be blown up, that site is horrible.

Thanks for this, but I can't get it to even display the T-Mobile text. I had previously installed the first carrier.plist which fixed the text, but after changing to this, I get nothing.
I noticed the file is quite a bit smaller than the last one, maybe its corrupt? Ideas?

Guys there's a much easier way now. Install the new carrier logo fixer in carrier. And for tmobile u need to install a carrier bundle from the mmi repo and it'll work. Mine works now

Yeah, tmobile. I got the 3.1 bundle fix on there, but just get the text, my custom logo wont work. i was just looking for the tmobile carrier bundle on the mmi repo, but i am not sure which one i need. they all mention prepaid plans.
i am on tmobile unlimited plan.
