Cydia Update - leading to Dock icon error

I have a iphone 3g, with jb 3.01, and recently logged into cydia after about a month of not logging in and received a message that 15 applications had changes and needed update, so i did that, and afterwards, now my mail and phone icon have a the busy icon next to them (in bottom left corner). See attached image. I cannot figure out why the icon has this. Any help would be appreciated.
