Need some clarification.
I don't currently have a 3G S, but my roommate does and he wants to have it jailbroken. He is currently on 3.01. I know that iTunes will only verify a restore on 3.1 now.
If I can't jailbreak on 3.1 yet (I'm on a PC so no new Pwnage Tool yet), can I at least grab the numbers I need while restoring to 3.1?
Thanks for the help, and any link to a guide would be much appreciated.

You don't need to restore to jailbreak. Download the 3.0 fw file and run redsn0w to jailbreak. Point to the 3.0 file during the JB.

^Yes, and then after if he wants 3.1, create a custom firmware using PWNage tool.
