I created a guide for this process...but the Guides section is not up and running yet. I can post here a few different guides that may help you, but you need a mac. The second guide is for changing the SB Badge, but the wifi icons go in the same directory so just substitute the files in the guide. The names of the wifi icons are as follows:
    Default_0_AirPort, Default_1_AirPort, Default_2_AirPort, Default_3_AirPort
    FSO_0_AirPort, FSO_1_AirPort, FSO_2_AirPort, FSO_3_AirPort
Default files are for the image when you are inside an app
FSO files are for when you are on your lock screen or home screen...
    Good Luck

    Guide #1:
How to Make your own Icons using Photoshop

You will need Photoshop CS4 and Rapido Resizer (Download - Download RapidoResizer, RapidoResizer 1.1.1 Download)

Step 1-Search google images and select a few different pictures you would like to use as icons. Download the images to a folder on your computer. I am using a picture of a duck for this guide.

Step 2- Open Photoshop, and open the pictures you are going to make into an icon.

Step 3- In the toolbar on the left, select and hold down on the eraser and select the Magic Eraser Tool.

Step 4- Using the Magic Eraser tool, click on the background or other areas you wish to erase from the image.

Step 5- The image will look something like this after you remove the background.

Step 6- Go to the File menu in the top left and select "Save As"

Step 7- Change the image format to PNG

    Step 8- The click save!

Step 9- A window will pop up asking you about PNG option. Select none and hit OK.

Step 10- Find the saved image and double-click it, opening it in Preview. Notice the background is gone and the image appears to float.

Step 11- Open RapidoResizer that you downloaded earlier.

Step 12- Drag the icon of the image we just created in photoshop into the Rapido Resizer window.

Step 13- In the Inspector window make sure "Proportionally" is checked and then adjust the Width and Height of the image. I recommend making the image20x20 for wifi icons. Then press Apply Dimensions

Step 14- Your image should now appear to be around this size.

Step 15- Select Save to save your completed icon.

You have now completed making your own custom icon for use on the iPhone or on your Mac. Make sure your icon is in PNG format to use with your iPhone. Image will need to be in icns format to use on your mac.

    Guide #2:
How to Manually Change the wifi icons using SSH

1.First Download an SSH Client such as Cyberduck for OSX

    2. Then locate your phones IP Address. Make sure your phone is on the same network as your computer you are SSHing from.

    3. Open Cyberduck

    4. Click Open Connection on Cyberduck

    5. Click the drop down menu and select SFTP(SSH File Transfer Protocol) Make sure the port is 22

    6. Use the IP Address we located on your iPhone and input it where it says Server.

    7. The user name is "root" and the password is "alpine". Both are without caps. Then hit Connect.

    8. A screen will pop up asking "Do you want to allow the host access?" Select Allow for one time use or Always to connect everytime

    9. Then you will need to hit the up button to go into the previous directory:/var/

10.Then you will need to hit the up button again to get to the main directory:

    11. Double click System, putting you in the directory /System/

    12. Then go into the directory /System/Library

    13. Go into Directory /System/Library/CoreServices/

    14. Double click the SpringBoard.app folder to go into the directory /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app

    15. Drag and drop your wifi icons into this directory...(it is a SBBadge in this example)

    16. Click continue to confirm you want to overwrite the existing wifi files.

17 .Respring your phone and the new Badge should take affect

First, You are Trolling with that comment
Second, Did you notice that my name is spelled Melech in every post as well? And that was not the point. I sat here for a few hours trying to help the guy who cant even say Thank You for taking the time to help me. I also have windows, and linux, and Mac OSX. The guide also works on both Mac and Windows, but you two obviouly do not have enough common sense to realize that there is Photoshop for windows and other SSH clients for windows as well....

first, im not trolling with that comment. but thanks for wondering.
second, with all due respect, i REALLY dont care how you spell your name. you did NOT sit there for hours helping him, i may even go as far as to call that ********.

oh it works for windows? huh, you'd think that you would have mentioned that to him instead of forcing him to thank you for nothing.

also just to remind you in case you would like to play the common sense card again: computer knowledge =/= common sense. knowing the right programs =/= common sense. knowing what common sense is = common sense. good bye.

Notice: I first respond at 2:24 and my last post is at 3:54. Did you think that guide wrote itself? No, I worked on it for him. When I signed onto this thread today it was to help, not to bash like you are doing. Aside from who has what OS, notice his question:
unless you can explain to me how to do it? Where would i drop it in ssh and what would I label it?
    Notice my response:
