Default 2G Iphone - My Country SIM CARD is rejected !

    Hi,

I have my friend's son who has a 2G , it broke the glass and someone took it to China and paid 100$ to have the whole thing replaced, before that it was OK , the local line here was woring in it.

It came back and saw the 3.0 and also I upgraded to 3.1 , jailbreak with Custome Firmware made by Pwnage 3.1 and now this is what the new behaviour is...

I put local SIM cards of my own country here , Tanzania and the phone says NO SIM

I have tried the following SIM cards and the phone works OK ... they are

    Dubai DU Network SIM

    France Orange SIM

    UK O2 Sim

Now what makes these cards work and mine , the native of Tanzania , ZAIN , Vodacom , Tigo and Zantel to refuse to work ?

Stonyboys, I see you giving out some bad information....

    ultrasn0w is for the 3G and 3GS

to unlock the 2G with windows, use redsn0w and get the bootloaders.. everything is available in the download section here on MMI.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

Chefanim you are right and thats exactly what i did.

I have my own 2G which my daughter is using and its on v3.0 and works OK.

Did not have to do anything on unlock as you have said it.

Funny enough some SIM CARDS of Dubai and France work, and my native country do not work , all 4 providers.

I have 3G for my wife and 3GS for myself and they are OK on their own ways of unlock and jailbreak

    AKHISS

All providers in Tanzania work with Iphone as long as it has been unlocked and jailbroken.

I tried once again today for my friend's 2G Iphone and failed, I did as below

iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.1 Using PwnageTool (Mac)

Still sim card is not recognised
