iphone 2g no service???

hi, i have a second hand iphone 2g, i unloked it an jailbroe it all works fine, however when i put my current o2 sim card in the phone i get no service. the sim card is a 3G sim. not one from the iphone 3g just a 3g sim. now i hae followed steps on o2 website to set it up for payg but still no service. when i go to the carrier thing too it only has one option which is automatic. this is really annoying me coz i really want it working. my iphone 2g is not on the internet either. dont know if i need this on or not. any help to get this working would be a great help!!!

you tried another carrier? @mine every carrier works. but mine not..

hi it wouldnt let me select another carrier, i tried different sim cards still nothing. and now i updated it to 3.1 and i can't even activate the bloody thing! god i'm annoyed. and since there are no unlock tools for 3.1 yet i will be stuck with a worthless phone.
