Default 2g Has unlocked itself in Canada

My 2g iPhone i bought in USA over 2 years ago (usually jailbroken to use in Canada) has suddenly unlocked itself to work with Rogers and Fido and allowed my to update in iTunes this week to 3.01 and now 3.1 without the aid of jailbreak or unlock.

I had noticed a small icon at the top right of my screen before i updated. (telephone and keypad icon)

Has this happened to anyone else.

without jailbreak and without contract is what i meant.

I think your just roaming, not unlocked, there is a difference, if it was unlocked then you could put any other sim card other then AT&T in it and get service

    definitely not roaming.
Im using a Fido Sim and tested a Rogers one too in my 2g without the aid of unlocking and jailbreaking.
I live in Canada and this is new because i always needed to do both before.
When i 1st upgraded to 3.01 it just started up without the 'connect to iTunes'. Then again when i upgraded to 3.1. This would have usually locked my phone up.

I just wanted to know if this is unique to my phone or is it happening to others.
