    Default iphone wont update or work

    My problem is i updated my phone but it never finishes. It goes into a purple screen. When i try to reset it, it goes into recovery mode which i believe is the plug pointing to the itunes icon on the phone. I've tried restoring it and error 1604 keeps popping up. Im using an iphone 3g and itunes 8.2, anything would help!

    DFU restore. What firmware are you trying to restore to?

    If you are indeed running iTunes 8.2 it is for 3.0 firmware so you should be fine. Follow ^ Poseidon79 recommendation and DFU your phone and restore.
