There are a couple of ways to block DATA.
The common way is to change the APN settings (user/password to access the EDGE/3G network)
Simply set user to: FAKE and password to: FAKE
and that should do the trick.
On some iPhones (e.g. such sold in the US) some carriers (e.g. AT&T) have blocked the user interface found under "settings/general/network" to change the APN.
However - Apple has a freeware allowing you to make a "Networks Profile" (email to yr iphone and install)
iPhone Configuration Utility 1.1
And you can basically do the same via accessing this web page, on yr iPhone: Unlockit - APN Changer for your iPhone
However, the "correct" way is to call yr carrier and request a DATA block - they can not refuse unless you are on a phone-subsidization plan - then you are stuck untill the term is up.
I would also suggest reading this post; Warning!-AT&T-BUG!Last edited by sursture; 09-02-2009 at 08:42 AM.
Do hope that helps

Umm, why not just use SBSettings? It has a button right in it to disable data.
Just download it in Cydia!

No, it definitely disables data 100%. If you disable them and try to open a webpage, Safari will come up saying it can't load the page. No emails will work. No apps can connect to the internet.
When I first got my iPhone, I didn't have a data plan. When I used SBSettings to disable data, I never payed a cent for using any data.
