Stuck in recovery mode
Okay, I'm on fw 1.1.4 and I tried to upgrade to 3.0. I did the shift and update for 3.0, but it said iTunes said it couldn't do that. Then iTunes said my iPhone was in recovery mode. I hite restore =, but it said I have to restore and update. I pressed cancel. Then I pressed shift/restore and selected the 3.0 I had on my desktop. It looked like everything was going fine until it finished. Now, my iPhone is stuck in recovery mode, and iTunes says my sim inserted is not compatible and it can't be activated with my sim. Also, I'm with t-mobile, and I wanted to upgrade it so it can be jailbroken.

DFU mode, then restore then jailbreak if you choose. Redsn0w is the preferred method.
Just restore, not shift restore.
In case you need them.
DFU mode
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Turn off iPhone
Step 2. Hold down the power and home button.
Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the home button down.
Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that it detects iPhone in restore/recovery mode.
Alternative Method:
Step 1. Connect iPhone to USB then listen to the sound when it connects and disconnects.
Step 2. Hold the home and power buttons until hear the disconnect sound then release power button.
Step 3. Wait until you hear another sound then release home button.

Google would be your best bet but there is no issues with 3.0.1 when you use redsn0w to J/B use the 3.0 .ipsw tho.

I still have a problem. Every time I restore it, it goes back into "Emergency mode," or whatever that's called. And it says "sim card inserted is not supported. What should I do?

^ Thanks, I'll do that now. Just to be sure, it's okay to activate/jailbreak my iPhone even though it's in Emergency mode, correct?

^ That worked fine, and everything got unlocked, but it asked me to restore backup and I said yes. However, it froze while it was doing that, so I shut it off. But when I tried turning it on, it's stuck on the start-up screen. Can I fix it?
EDIT: I got it up, but I see see the start-up screen with the little restore bar. And iTunes recognized it too.Last edited by y0ungSir; 08-31-2009 at 08:14 PM.

^ I would, but it's stuck on the Apple logo screen, as if it is about to be upgraded, etc. However, the bar isn't moving. When I tried to shut it off, that didn't work. It brought me back to a screen that couldn't restore, etc. It's stuck on the screen, but my computer recognizes it. What should I do? I tried just shutting it off, but when I try shutting it off, it gets stuck on the Apple screen.
EDIT: I'm restoring it.Last edited by y0ungSir; 08-31-2009 at 08:38 PM.

^Thanks, I'm jailbreaking it again. I have one more question: how do I get my contacts on 3.0? And is there a phonezap for 3.0?

you just sync it and get contacts and music back, not from a back-up just sync.
