    Default What jailbreak to use on iphone 3gs?

    I just got my iphone 3gs what dev team jailbreak do i use to jailbreak it? also want to unlock it(i know that's thru cydia tho)

    also where do u get the firmwares just looked on the dev teams website, where i used
    to get them and they are no longer there? can i just use the 3.0 software from when
    i jailbroke my 3g

    Depending on that firmware you have. If you have 3.0, I Highly recommend redsn0w.

    well, I would use redsn0w as well. Though I just discovered that, on my 3gs, redsn0w causes battery drain. But it might be an individual issue, so you probably should go with redsn0w.

    And don't forget to capture your iBEC and iBSS! you will need them to update to 3.1! and - I guess you know that, but I'll say it nonetheless - remember to NEVER update to anything above 3.0.1 when itunes ask you to!

    Do we HAVE to hVe IBEC Nd IBSS? I dont want to restore my whole phone and have to do everything again.

    Yes you need to get the iBEC & iBSS files unless you want to stay on 3.0.1 forever or lose your jailbreak forever.

    As for your original question - use redsn0w. the ipsw files are in the "icommunity" link on the dev team page in the right sidebar.
    I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

    no, the whole point of the files is that they only appear during a restore.

    oh, and you should better lose your fear of restores right now, it's highly likely you will restore a couple of times in your iphone life ;-)

    Ive had my restores but if i backup, will my game saves from games still b there?
