Tethering not working? or am I just stupid..

HEy everyone, I don't know if this is new news, but I just found out about How to Enable Tethering on iPhone OS 3.0 | iPhone Tethering | iPhone | iPhoneHeat and I tried it. After installing the profile, I never got the option to tether, as opposed to my friend where it just popped up after installing the profile.

I'm assuming it is that has a 3G and I have a 2G (but he has T-Mobile, I have AT&T).Is there a quick fix for this?

no tethering on the 2G, and so far there is no hack to enable it that I know of.

sorry, just another stupid restriction by apple without technical reasons whatsoever. But I guess there will be a hack for this sooner or later.
