Changing phones, anyway to still use my iPhone even though I'm going to have Verizon?

I'm switching from T-Mobile to Verizon (getting the enV Touch =])
i still want to use my iphone after the switch for all my mail, facebook, music, etc. Is there anyway i can do this, basically make an iPhone just an iPod Touch? or do i have to buy a whole new ipod bc the phone won't work without an active sim card in it

You have to Hacktivate and jailbreak with redsnow, you will then have a really expensive iPod touch, enjoy
