iPhone 2G not Charging

Hi

My iPhone 2G on 3.0 suddenly stopped charging. Its not detecting on itunes in any mode..

But strangely when its completely dead, and i connect it to the charger it shows the batt logo, and charges till it comes on, and then does not charge and it does not connect to the comp.

When the batt dies, i connect it to the charger it charges till the phone has enough power to come on, then does not connect to the usb cable...

What should I do, seems like a software problem,..

i kept it off and plugged in .. n when it switched on .. it has 40 % charge,.... so is it a software problem?

I would probably try switching back to the previous software and see if it works then... Or try to hard rest the phone and see if that helps...

Update your firmware and if that doesn't work call apple

Yep, a restore would be something to try, or if you have an Apple store near you you can see what they'll do for you.
