Making an iphone av cable

Ok so ive got some old ipod connectors, and plenty of composite cables, i know most usb cables have 4 cables inside, 2 for data and 2 for power.

Has anyone cut open their apple cable to find out how its wired by chance?

Any input would be appreciated.. the $50 apple cable is a bit steep.

EDIT: I just cut up one of my ipod cords and it does indeed have 4 cables, 3 white/grey and 1 black.

Havent sliced one, but I bought a cable off ebay for $15 that works perfect.

Its looking like 3.0 disabled 3rd party av connectors

Hmmm, I'll test mine out 2morrow on my 3GS and see if it still works.

The 3rd party cable that i had with my 3g and 2.2 worked great but does not work with my 3gs at 3.0
