Default iPhone Stuck in Emergency Mode

    Hi.
My iPhone 2G 16GB is stuck in sos-emergency mode.
When I turn on iTunes, I get this error message: "itunes cannot activate your iphone because the SIM card is not inserted or a sim pin is required".
I'm also unable to turn the phone off when I press the top button therefore unable to take it to DFU mode.
I don't have an ATT sim as the phone was jailbroken and unlocked before.
It appears to be bricked somehow.
Is there any way I can revive this thing?
    Thanks.

DFU mode and a restore is what will cure this issue, but not being able to use the power button will make this near impossible, sorry.

If you hit the shift key on the computer and hold down the home button in the iphone i think it will allow you to restore it when you open itunes

not if your phone is not activated.

if you can't use the power button that would mean it is broken somehow. do you have warranty left? if so, send in the iphone. or try holding power and home button until the phone reboots, maybe that works if the power button isn't broken but it's rather a software error.
