Help - phone will not ring
I have 2g jailbroken and updated to 3.0. Everything fine but my phone will not ring when a call comes in. It does vibrate. I have checked the settings and the phone rings when I alter the ring tone but will not ring with incoming call. Any advice please.

We're not sure what is causing this. As of late there have been a bunch of 2G people that have reported this same problem. We have yet been able to come up with a common denominator as to what might be causing this. I have spoken to some very savvy iPhone people and still no luck.
Can you give me more information please as it may help us all figure out what is going on.
When it started to occur.
What jailbreak method used.
Did you set the phone up as new in iTunes after process or sync to a previous back up.
Type of system used, Mac/PC etc.
What ever you can tell us may help.
Thanks

Only noticed today, although the update was done a couple of weeks ago, my husbands phone was done previously but his is fine. It was updated with redsnow, via windows.
Didnt set phone up as new, just used sync.
I did exactly the same with my husbands phone, even using the same information via sync. and as yet he has had no problems.

Best I can tell you is that syncing from a back up and not setting up as new is always a huge problem, especially when updated to a major F/W update. It effects most phones, your hubby may be just lucky. Is he using a 2G phone also?
I suggest you restore to a fresh 3.0 and re-jailbreak it. Please set it up as a new phone. ((You can always sync to get your music and contacts.))
See if it corrects the problem, if so we have the culprit in your case.
Please report back if you would and let us know how it turned out.
thx

Download the 3.0 FW (D/L section) save to desktop or where ever, hold shift & press restore, popup window will appear & select the FW, from where you save it.

I don't really think this will help, but you never know. Worth a try. Another preson who was having a similar issue tried this and it worked.
"I suspect it's a hardware issue independent of the state of the software on the phone. If you compare the earbud plug for the iPhone with the iPod, you'll see an extra ring around the iPhone plug. That's for the microphone on the whatcha-ma-dongle. When the iphone headphones are inserted, it allows the headphones-mounted speaker to engage on the iPhone headphones. When you use the iPod phones, it doesn't allow for that. Thus the 'switch' gets stuck 'on'.
Such mechanical mechanism can be confirmed to be in play as using regular headphones does not disengage the microphone on the iPhone handset. However, using a set of the iPhone headphones (with the microphone) does."
