Default Any major difference besides internet speed?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to buy an iphone but I've been pretty much only looking at Iphone 3g models, but if I plan on jailbreaking and not using a Data plan at all, is there any major difference between the 1st gen iphone and the 3g?

And I mean besides the obvious cosmetic differences, I.E, is the processor any faster Etc.

The 3G has GPS and is obviously in a different type casing.

One thing to note, if you are going to use it on AT&T, even jailbroken, they will know you are on an iPhone and still have to have a data plan. If you are going on T-Mobile or something else, you should be fine.

An iPhone without a data plan? That's just sad.

It's like buying a sports car without wheels...
Just sit in it and play with the radio and make engine noises...

Well, I don't really think I should have to explain myself, but if you must.

I currently have an iPod Touch that is breaking down, I also have a phone that is broken... If it will be cheaper for me to buy an Iphone than a new phone and iPod, why not go for it? I'm sorry not everyone can afford 70 dollars a month for a convenience

Anyway, besides that, do you have an answer to the question? there is no point in being rude about it

If you can get an iPhone cheaper than a touch then why not. I'm just surprised you can.

If you make a phone call with it, the device ID is sent to AT&T to show what phone you are using. When they see the iPhone ID, they will automatically add the data plan. It's very weird your friend never had a data plan added.

Unless he changed his phone ID, I don't understand why his hasn't been added.

when my gf was using my old unlocked 3g I forgot to turn off edge and 3g so she was using the data on accident. Then when she paid her bill she asked why it was so much obviously because she had been using data but the people at att said they didnt even see an iphone on the account. So that would lead me to believe that unless you accidentally use the data they would know its an iphone
